All Yoga produces heat, detoxifies, strengthens, creates balance, boosts metabolism and replenishes your life force energy (prana) to create a sense of peace of mind. Yoga utilizes less oxygen to physically and mentally accomplish more.
Sequencing in the Himalayan tradition focuses on releasing stagnant energy through the chakras or energy centers to create clarity and balance, while Alignment principles & Yoga Therapy lessons learned and embraced will offer the student the ability to find their "seat" within the poses to release down to the core of the body, mind and spirit!
Himalayan (Sri. Swami Rama) is a style of yoga based on the foundation of Pantanjali's Yoga Sutras as well as Raja Yoga's 8-limbed path. It is a more slow-flow form of yoga with a deep sense of compassion to guide you to release and let go within your Mind and Body to allow your Spirit to shine through.
Come Join Me!
Alignment Yoga Alignment is a kind of enlightenment. Proper alignment and the body mechanics that accompany it ensure correct, safe, and elegant movement. By definition, yoga postures feel good and reflect an art form of symmetry and freedom. Prop use and pose variations and modifications will be taught to help bring the floor up to greet the Student where they are at.
Hatha Yoga Hatha Yoga uses focused alignment in the postures to bring about illumination of the mind through discriminative self-balancing. The focus will be on creating a slow flow with a strong focus on body alignment to sweat, lengthen and strengthen.
Yoga means to unite, join or yoke. "Ha" means the Sun, and "tha" means the Moon. It is about uniting and accepting your True Self, all the light and all the dark. It is a willingness to be aware of all parts of ourselves, the full rainbow of sensation, perception, emotion and thought. To be in the flow is to look at whatever arises with freshness and freedom. It is to simply open our hearts with love to the present moment without clinging or pushing. It is the union of the Body, Mind & Spirit. Hatha is the foundation of all physical forms of yoga.
Pranayama, bandha and mudras may all play a role in the class. Classes will offer insight into the more subtle energetic undertones of the practice.
Vinyasa/Slow or Hatha Flow literally means "collection" or "arrangement." Taken from Ashtanga Yoga (Sri. Pattabhi Jois), it allows the teacher more flexibility and creativity with sequencing. Sun Salutations are the main focus with a dynamic linking of the body and breath. You will definitely get a vigorous workout! Hatha Flow is a slower variation of this style.
Paddle Yoga Flow Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)+ Yoga offers the student the ability to challenge themselves while learning how to paddleboard and then practicing Yoga on a paddleboard. The student will learn proper paddle techniques both on shore and in the water to ensure safety. We will then practice on the board what was taught before anchoring to experience a nature-infused yoga session on the open water. At the end of the Practice, free time will be offered for students to practice more of what they enjoyed before paddling back to shore.
WHAT TO BRING? You will get wet. Wear swim shoes. Dry bag if you are bringing anything of importance onto the board with you. Clothing that is dry wicking. Hips must be covered. A water bottle in a sealed container if you want to bungee to your board. Keep everything else in the car. A towel to dry off after class. Most all of my locations have a restroom to change out of your wet clothes after. Check with instructor. Optional: hat, sunscreen, bug spray
Paddle 101
Stand Up Paddleboard 101 will offer the student the ability to learn proper Stand Up Paddleboard techniques. The goal is for the student to learn how to safely paddle so they can feel confident enough to paddle on their own on any body of water. The A stroke, C stroke, how to turn and stop, how to get back on your board if you fall off and how to use your paddle correctly will all be introduced and practiced both on land and in the water. Each student will learn about their equipment and how to lift and transport with safety in mind, too. We will then take those lessons learned and apply them while having fun during a 'touring' of the riverfront.
AirFusion Fow This is an ACTIVE CLASS
CONTRAINDICATIONS: If you are on pain medication, any recent surgery of any kind.
Any and all head, back or neck injuries should be discussed with instructor before signing up for this style of class.
NO caffeine or food for 2-3 prior to class as this can cause dizziness and nausea while inverted.
*A PRIVATE session may be more suitable for you, dependent on your limitations. Bare in mind that Felicia has utilized the yoga trapeze to help with the healing of her back injury. It is a powerful tool when used therapeutically. **If you cannot get up and down off the floor by yourself, then a PRIVATE session would be more suitable for you at this time.
Please wear clothing that will stay put while inverted (upside down). Expect to sweat. Do not wear any heavy perfumes or jewelry that can snag the fabric.
WHAT TO EXPECT: This style of class utilizes ANTI-GRAVITY with use of hammocks/silks, with the added bonus of suspension training/handles in tandem with inversion therapy to traction the body while in and out of poses. An energetic flow of familiar poses, along with some unfamiliar ones are introduced, taught and refined. This class is great for joint stabilization, core strength, inversion therapy and posterior chain work. It builds upper and lower body strength through a slow flow yoga practice within an anti-gravity experience. Flexibility, mobility, inversion therapy and balance are the key focus of this style of yoga class.
This class will introduce the Yoga Hammock/Trapeze from a FUNdamentals standpoint. We will work up to inverting (going upside down) safely during every class with the support of the hammock and handles (rig) as well as practicing more familiar yoga poses with use of the full 'rig.' You will be delightfully surprised at how accessible the class is! It is skillfully taught for everyone and every body. Variations and modifications will be offered to make you feel comfortably safe and empowered. To end the class, “Shavasana Cocoon" in the hammocks will be welcomed with open arms like a strong hug from an old friend.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? The Yoga Trapeze has been shown to help boost immune system health by stimulating the lymph system through movement, extension, rotation and traction and promotes and enhances diaphragmatic breathing through inverting. Diaphragmatic breathing strengthens the respiratory system by utilizing less oxygen to do more. The mind and brain will be stimulated as you gain control of where you are at in space (proprioception), and within your body space (interoception).
It is a super fun and well-rounded, full body practice. Did you know that 1-2mm of space is created in the discs by turning the body upside down?
Integrative Yoga & Ayurveda Therapy
If you are looking to dig a bit deeper and learn diet, lifestyle and yoga therapy techniques that will help you live an Ayurvedic Lifestyle, then this 4-session Package is for you. Expect to invest at least 7 hours of one-on-one time with Felicia. She is also available for questions and concerns. Each session is scheduled minimally 2 weeks after each other, with the full 4-session IN PERSON or ZOOM sessions completed in about 5 months; dependent on the client's needs and scheduling availability.
A full Assessment of Body & Mind is done during the first consultation. This may include a Tongue and Pulse Analysis. A complete Wellness Program with a daily routine (dinacharya), night routine (ratricharya), diet and lifestyle choices and an integrative yoga therapy practice will be sent to the student via PDF. This written program is meant to be used to journal on as each client progresses on their Ayurvedic Journey to Wellness.
Each continuing session will offer the client the opportunity to go over, practice and tweak any areas of concern to help them 'embrace all that is and all that can be.'
During the process, Felicia is available via text and phone. She is attentive and timely. Felicia only takes on 1-2 new clients each quarter so she can give them the 'attention they deserve.' This is a growth process and the goal is for the effort to become effortless for the client to better understand how their Constitution (Prakruti) ebbs and flows (Vikruti). The Wellness Program is created for the student to continue to learn, grow and prosper from. It is not an overnight fix, but rather a lifestyle plan to follow for years to come.
